Because there's been no new art created here recently,
and the title of this blog is
Off The Wall ART
I thought I'd revisit some older work.
I may have already shown some of this before, I'm not sure.
If you've seen it before, you are not required
to look again.
This is an oil on unstretched canvas.
I painted it while convalescing from surgery.
Over the years I've moved away from working much with oil
as my work space was too confined, and without good ventilation.
I miss it, and hopefully once I have my new studio, I can get back to it.
I did this charcoal of a mythical bird after returning
from vacation in Florida. The pelicans, gulls,
and egrets always intrigue me, and I think this guy must
be a combination of all of those. Or maybe none of them, who knows.
I was enjoying a few art shows and sales in those days, but for some reason
never wanted to offer him for sale.
He lived on my home office wall for many years, and since we moved, he hangs out in my bathroom.
He says he enjoys the humidity.
An oil collage of torn canvas strips, on board.
This final painting is oil,
3ft. by 4ft.
and was inspired by our Oklahoma lake place.
It is the last large piece that I sold from the Salon
before I retired.
So that's it for now.
I'm making things ready
in this small house
for too much company
for Thanksgiving
who're staying almost a week.
I am determined that it will be
FUN!
Jack's already asked if he can spend the night too.
Heck, what's one more, I ask.
Just more fun, right?
RIGHT?

love them all but especially the blue piece and the last piece - gorgeous.
Hey - the beauty of a small house is that when filled with love and friends - it becomes large cause it manages to hold it all. hope that makes sense, but I think you know what I mean!!!

Hi Suki,
Well, since it's all about being thankful, we can do that either alone or with a houseful, can't we?
I've been alone on holidays before myself, though it's been a long time, and you're right. We survive.
Hugs back atcha!

okay, here i am, arriving at babs' fine art gallery and savoring the diversity.
the last piece is just so FINE. and that hybrid bird belongs in a humid bathroom! too funny and very perfect!
i hope you get your ventilation, babs. i think your hand moves effortlessly with those oils. and do you use a palette knife?

Babs I love all these but I think my favorite is the waterscape. So moody. I like the fun of the blue "denim" collage and the energy of the red one as well. I hope you can get your studio up and running one day soon but I know how life get in the way of the fun things we want to do. Have a happy Turkey Day.
oooh I love that first one. I don't use oils, the smell makes me feel sick. have fun with all your visitors---what am I saying??? don't get too exhausted!!
kj, thanks for returning with those fiiine remarks!
Yep, a palette knife is especially fun with oils.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours too,kj!

Thanks Kate,,,and the studio definitely is a some day thing, but much to look forward to.Life does get in the way, but then much of that has been great too. Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy your hike, and your new friends.
Jossie, I know. The smell bothers a lot of people. Not me, but the fumes from it do.
The fun is about to begin here,,,,our visitors are due in about 30 minutes. I am ready. Tired, but ready.
thanks for sharing your older works.. shows the passage and journey.. have a wonderful thanksgiving.
